I have owned my 1975 550k from right out of the box. 42 years later, it is still going strong, and I plan, at age 69, to ride it solo cross country. I have tracked every expense for 42 years, and it has proven extremely reliable. Normal expectations of wear after 50,000+ miles: cables, went to an electronic ignition, clutch plates, head gaskets, brakes etc: Never stranded once, and I can easily tour with the bigger bikes of today. Also, smooth as silk, making twins feel like a paint mixer at a paint store. Off road? why even ask. Wasn´t designed for it. It absolutely kills me however that people are chopping these vintage and classic bikes for the horrific cafe racers. completely disrespects and misses the point of the great original stock design.
