Hard Starting/Idling for 1973 Honda CB500 |

I purchased a 1973 Honda CB500 a few weeks back. It had a problem with the ignition switch, so I have had it apart for a few weeks waiting for that to get in. I just received it today, installed it, and now I am having a hard time getting it to idle. It will start sometimes, idle for a minute, and then die. When it does run, there is a very small amount of smoke from the exhaust pipes. When I get it started, if I rev it just a little, up to around 1000rpm or so, it will stay alive, but as soon as i let off the gas, it dies. It ran just fine when I purchased it, even went for a ride. It was warmer then,it is now about 33 deg. Farenheit. My question is, will these bikes not run when it is this cold, but they will run fine when it warms up? Any information would be helpful. Thanks, Brandon |
