Eliminate ignition switch and redirect to kill switch? |

Hello Everyone, I recently purchased a 1978 Honda CB400TII for $900 with 8,000 miles. Everything on it is stock and had been covered and garage kept by an older gentleman, so needless to say its in really good shape! So what am I going to do with it? Chop it up into a café racer! However with any 32 year old bike it has a few issues. Two of them being that I burned up the CDI and that the previous owner had broken off the key in the ignition. Rather than repairing the ignition switch or buying a new one I would like to rewire it so that the CDI wiring goes to the kill switch, and that the bike´s electrical components are activated by the kill switch and not the ignition switch. Is this possible? I am also going to replace the tachometer/speedometer with a sleek digital one and remove anything else I can between my soon to be purchased clubman handlebars and the head light including, you guessed it, the ignition switch. I would appreciate any guidance/instructions on how to do this, and please keep in mind that even though I have been working on my own motorcycles for 5 years now I am still Noob, and need detailed explanations. Thanks in advance for any help! -Stuart |
