If I were you I would replace it. Pulling the carbs off isn´t that tough. Disconnect the fuel lines (make sure the gas is off). You´ll probably want to take the tank off because the petcock will get in your way. Take off the air filters. Loosen the clamps holding the carbs on the cylinder intake boots. Then you should be able to wiggle it off. You shouldn´t have to take the throttle cables off although it´ll be easier to work with that way. The idle screw pushes on the pulley that the throttle cables attach to. While trouble shooting my carbs this morning, I backed my idle screw out too far. I had to take the carbs out to thread the screw back into the guide that directs it at the throttle pulley. It only took about half an hour.
