honda 350 erratic idle/ airleak? |

Hey this is my first time to this forum so I hope that someone might be able to finally help me. I have a 72 350 that I have been trying to get running right. It starts up just fine with good compression and all but the idle will not stay where I want it. If I kick it over the idle will be at 1200 or so where I want it but as soon as I pull the throttle and it goes above 2500 or so the idle rpmĀ“s shoot up and will not return to normal. If I put on the choke then it will bring the bike back down to idle and then kill it. I have been told that it is an airleak but the problem is that I can not seem to find one. I bought new rubber intake boots that the carbs go in from honda so I could have some nice oem parts to solve the problem however it is not working. Sometimes it seems that I have fixed the problem but once I ride the bike around for a while the problem seems to come back and the idle shoots back up again. So. Is there anything else that could be causing this problem? It is not my cable I have checked that. I didnt know if soemthing else could be wrong that would be causing similar symptoms. Maybe mechanical advance or something? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hunter |
