In regards to setting your carbs: 1. Check the basics - Both throttle cables are hooked up, there is a cable to pull the throttles open and one to pull the throttle closed. 2. Check the basics - Throttle slides moving together. 2 man job. Remove fuel tank for access and view. Remove the air cleaner and battery, remove the plastic air box connecting to the back to the carbs. Open and close the throttles. Check that all throttle slides are full open at the same time. If not, locate the set screw and lock nut on the top of the carbs. Adjust so that slides are fully open at the same time. 3. Check the basics - Idle mixture screw on left side of carb, turn completely in and then back out 1 3/4 turns. 4. If bike has been setting a long time, it may need to have the carbs soaked in cleaning solution and reassembled. Idle jets could be plugged. 5. Idle speed is about 1500 RPM. 6. Large knob/screw on front ride side of carb group will set the throttle idle position by moving all carbs open/closed together. Good place to start. |
