| It sounds like one of your carburetor Diaphragms may have split. Pop the tops off (Mind the Spring!) and carefully remove the throttle bodies and pin assemblies & inspect the rubber. if there are any breaks or holes in them, that´s your problem right there. Unfortunately, they are bonded to the throttle slides & can only be replaced with new units. It may also be likely that one of your contact breakers may have moved, or come loose inside the timing cover. My old girl does this from time to time. I tend to check the static timing regularly when the bike´s in regular use. Tip: If you find one of your diaphragms is damaged, make a hole in a small sandwich sized plastic bag and push it over the throttle slide (Needs to be a tight fit). Refit in the carb with the spring and clamp down with the fixing screws. Providing there are no other problems, your engine should now run smoothly. This bodge got me home one day when one of mine split, & I ran it like that for several days while the new one was on it´s way to me. |
