Linked braking system concerns.. |

I recently purchased a brand new Blackbird, about 3 weeks ago actually, and two days ago I came off it. This represents my first ´drop´ of a road bike, ever. Im 37, been riding over 20yrs. I keep asking myself why did this happen? what went wrong? The chain of events = On entering a right hander I depressed the rear brake thinking that as usual the front would come in a little, would line up an exit trajectory and power out - but instead of a smooth transition in through and out of the bend - the bike began to stand up! releasing the brake I tried again - it stood up! by this time I was out of my planned line, was fast out of road and had to begin an emergency braking proceedure - unfortunatly had reached the shoulder and onto dirt within an instant... Full credit to stopping power, I washed off enough speed before impact not to get seriously hurt. Repairs cost a fortune. Up to that point I loved the bike, mega comfort, smooth power and all the great things this bike is. But I have to say that the brake system is NOT safe. Maybe there should be an option for it or training. Thank you |
