I bought a new 950 in Feb 09. At 16000 miles, the belt started making a lot of noise, rubbing on something. I took it in to the dealer where I bought it. They told me they could find no problem and that they cleaned the belt and used candle wax to lubricate it. Again at 24000 miles; same thing. Now at 32000, again. Two weeks after they cleaned it and put candle was on it, the transmission locked up on me coming home from work. It wasn´t completely locked, but it took 2 big men to push it onto the wrecker to be taken back to the shop. I haven´t heard from them yet as to what the problem is, but suspect something in the output shaft / bearings, etc. I´m guessing it´s an inherant problem and will sell it as soon as I get it out of the shop and never buy another Yamaha.
