First, you don´t need to gear this bike to ride wheelies. You need to practice. This bike has so much torque, it will literally pull itself off the ground without you trying. You can simply run out first gear and it will float up. Best practice to ride a wheelie are these (but I cannot suggest that you do any of this): The ZX-9R will ride wheelies (extremely) easily in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. You won´t even need to try anything beyond this as a 3rd gear wheelie will run around 120-125 mph. - Keep your right foot on the rider´s peg (toe should cover your rear brake in case you need to save a wheelie that goes beyond balance point.) - Left foot on passenger peg for better balance. However, the first couple of times you try this position, you will notice the bike wanting to pull left because your weight won´t be exactly centered. You have to practice getting your weight shifted properly. Once you do, you will have so much better balance with this position. - 1st gear wheelies, you can simply pull up while accelerating. 2nd and 3rd gear, it is much smoother clutching it up. However, you can accelerate these up as well. Usually just takes a slight bounce of the suspension while doing so. - After that, it becomes a balancing game along with throttle control. So don´t panic and lose control of either. Start small and work your way up. Wear all the protective gear you can find. Be prepared! I´ve seen some nasty spills. |
