hi deano, i have just bought one of these second hand, i think its a great little bike, i´m from lincolnshire so lots of steep hills, doesn´t seem to have a problem, i have an equivelent 125 scooter that doesn´t seem to take them aswell as the sym, when you look at the spec for one of these it states a max speed of 57mph but i have riden mine at a test speed of 70 although i do think its worth riding at a lesser speed rather than opening it up all the way.
hope this helps.
