You need to buy another petcock. It cost about $32. I have a 96 900RR and I had a similar problem. Also check the bottom of the engine because the petcock problem will file out the spark plugs and dump the fuel in the bottom of the engine, it does not know where else to send it. If you are smelling fuel your problem could be worst than you think?
