V-twins develop their torque mcuh lower in the rev range meaning that you get your arms ripped off from about 3000rpm, as opposed to 8000rpm. You can also leave the V-twin in 3rd gear in the twisties, focussing on your riding technique, and dont need to shift up and down all the time to keep the revs high. A 1000 v-twin will pull like a freight train in third from 40kph to 160 kp. a pleasure to ride. in traffic, you only have to think about taking a gap, and you are in it. No shifting, waiting for revs to build, etc.

The first time you feel real pull (i.e. torque) on an in line (IL-4) is from 7000rpm, and by then you are doing stupid speeds on the road (in most gears). You get that same pull at 20 kph on a twin.

On track I accelerate away from IL-4´s coming out of corners, and then they pass me on straights. BUT, I get to a high speed faster than them, and there is not much difference after a few laps.
the grin factor
