If you have a bad battery when you turn on the lights it will run badly with a good battery your vote meter should read 13 to 14 volts. I have two 1977 kz 1000 ltd both are mid night blue one has 3400 miles one has 14000. Miles I have had them since new never been back to dealer for anything bullet proof. Hope this helps buck
