I had a P-reg orange and black job of this bike between 1984-85. As far as 125´s went it was one of the physically biggest, much bigger than the jap 125´s because it shared the same chassis as the 250. It was a terrific bike, the 69mph quoted seems all wrong, I saw 85mph on the instruments (borne out by others along side me). I loved my Benelli, it had real presence and individuality. Despite being big it was (typical for Italian machinery) flat, the seat and the tank were level so it felt sporty. It was quick, being a twin rather than the usual single for a bike of this size, 180 degrees so that when my retarded friend swapped the plug caps over it still worked! The handleing was everything you´d expect from an italian bike, solid, sure and importantly, forgiving, one of the best I have had in this area. Drawbacks? Well it was a premix 2-stroke, so either you found a good garage or you carried oil with you. I once pushed it 4 miles to get to a garage that could do it (I was poor!). On mine the gearbox was ropey, I got it fixed but it went again so I lost 1st gear. Not a big drawback, but you´d rather have it wouldn´t you? Overall, a handsome and solid bike, beautiful alloy cast engine, that handled wonderfully and didn´t feel or look like a 125. If you can find one buy it, keep hold of it and love it, I wish I had.
