I do not see how it would harm the gearbox unless you plan to tow it whilst a gear is engaged.
As far as the chain and sprockets are concerned I suppose they would wear out as if you were riding it.
I´d suggest a trailer over wearing out the rear tire and wear and tear on chain and sprockets.
