a whine is a good description for what i´m hearing so please post the results of your visit to the dealer. If you haven´t yet, you might google the 2006 900 LT and see what owners experienced. I did have my belt loosened to the lower range of tension and MOST of the noise I was hearing went away, but I am left with the whine as you described. Other than that I love the bike, i´m just used to riding a very quiet shaft drive bike.
