I was a previous owner of a 2004 DL1000 Vstrom. Rode it from Tucson,AZ to Cabo San Lucas in Baja, Mexico. Most of the roads were well paved, but one road turned out to be a major headache. It was rough all the way. Took over 1 day to go one hundred miles. The bike handled okay, but the supsension took a beating. This bike is for fire roads only. Recently purchased a 2007 DL1000 Vstrom. Minor improvements have been noted to the fuel injection system, overdrive gearing and transmission shifting. Extremely happy with this bike. I get around 45-50 mpg riding outside of Tucson. Would probably get 40-45 mpg if ridden hard. Yes, this bike should come with a better windshield, centerstand, heated grips, etc. But then again, these item are available on the aftermarket. Lost of good stuff to choose from. Any questions, just ask. |
