| I was looking at this bike back in 07/08 when looking for a touring bike. I ended up with the Roadliner instead and didn´t regret the decision. The owner of the small dealership that I had frequented quite a bit steered me away from the Royal Star, citing more extensive maintenance requirements, as well as having to live with older technology. Things such as air cooled vs. liquid cooled, carbs vs. fuel injectors, belt vs. shaft drive, and the lighter weight and even weight distribution were all factors. I was riding a Kaw 1500 Vulcan at the time and was looking for something with smoother power and ride. The Roadliner fit the bill, where the Royal Star would have been more of the same. I saw this post when researching the Royal Star again in 2017 when thinking about buying one because of the low prices these big old bikes are going for now. |
