In Topic: 1982 xr500 reed valves need some

Hi guys. Just add question. My 82 model xr 500 runs fine and well but I´m considering removing Reed cage and Reeds cause hearing that it´ll give me bit more horse Power which is what I´m after. Is it worth it? And 1 more question can I remove valve cover to replace gasket without dropping engineering?? ?tks a lot. Anton south africa 
Sorry without dropping engine i mean?
