XR500 wiring problem!

I´m really excited to have found a forum on XR500s! I´ve been riding Hondas my entire riding career, about 10 years. I´ve owned a few XRs over the last 5 years. I started off with a 94 XR200R(which sadly died on me so I sold it to a friend that wanted to rebuild it), then got an 83 XR500R (had to sell it when I moved a few years ago), and recently I got an 82 XR500R.

Herein lies my issue: The switch on the handlebars for the headlights was broken. I could only find one for an 81 XR500R but none of the wire colorings match up. Can anyone help me with the wiring diagram or explain how to check which wires go where?
