Signal light shutoff

I just bought a 2006 Vento V-Thunder but the signal lights will not turn off once I activate one. I made a left turn and rode for 10 miles to my destination with the left signal on. Is there some special way to get the light to go off once I´ve made my turn? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
