HI George (?) obxbiker, I still follow the Venox yahoo site - check on what is going on - I have about 4734 KM on the Venox, love the bike, try to get out 3 or 4 times a week - I feel comfortable with it, about 50 per cent on IH 35, IH 10 and IH410, 50 per cent on the Texas farm roads - a lot to see in the San Antonio area. I remember our discussions - never really commented on your comments - my Venox is under warranty, and the dealer puts in and recommends semi-synthetic oil, as do the other motorcycle dealers in our town - I can see not using pure synthetic oil during break-in. T The guys at themotorcycleshopsa.com are great - there are four generations of the Trott family that have run motorcycle shops - dating back to 1921 - originally in England, Jason Trott, who is about 35, is the 4th generation, and they are well known in San Antonio for being the most knowledgeable about motorcycles, scooters, etc. so I accept his advice. I´ve never had a problem with using standard gas. I did spend (in the army) time - 13 months in Korea and 6 years in Germany, and they do use different unleaded measuring standards - especially remember that in Germany. On the forum, because I had to change the Internet provider I have a new name on the yahoo forum, Ranaujoks, wanted to keep Yahoo, tho I said goodbye to SBC (over unrelated Dish Network boxes that continually crashed). I´m age 64, and have been riding two wheelers since March 5th this year, took the Texas basic safety course, and am licensed to ride a motorcycle. You never catch me without full protective gear - even in 100 degree heat - the jacket and pants are synthetic and have air holes - and liners for winter, so as long as I´m moving, I´m OK. I spend as much time gigging in Polka and German bands, performing on brass instruments and accordion - I´m a musician with a full time job. You guys are doing better on the yahoo Venox forum - you are giving answers to newbie´s questions, along with your commercials for prideinwhatyouride.com. It´s a little odd - normally considered bad form to get into a forum to answer a question, and then just refer to another forum - I would actually like to see the Venox forum grow enough to sustain itself - everybody can find it. However, to keep the Venox yahoo forum going, Somebody has to answer questions - I would like to see more of the other members of prideinwhatyouride.com make a comment or two. There is so much that ones that are starting out don´t know about motorcycling in general - the subject of gear shifting came up again. The Venox is not underpowered - you do have to shift down, use your gears, accelerating onto a highway, because the Venox, like the smaller sport bikes, has its torque on the high side - an issue that most new to the Venox, under the 600 mile mark, can´t drive over 50, let´s say, don´t learn to use all the gears - they´re at 45 going onto a super highway, and they leave it in 5th, which makes a slow and dangerous acceleration onto the slab - as I had my first oil change, checkup, etc. back in June, Jason (themotorcycleshopsa) explained to me in detail how to use the gears to safely accelerate. That´s why I made my comments on the Yahoo forum, and they weren´t half-bogus. There is always room to to express opinion, we all have different points of view, all legitimate. You will see me stick my 2 cents again on this and the yahoo forum in the future. Richard |
