Know this is an old post but..... I too have had turning issues from a stopped or starting position. Finding the main cause is the odd sweep of the O.E.M handlebars. Never had a comfortable riding posture with the stock bars. Changed over to a more subtle back sweep which eliminated that issue. Upper head bearings after 3000 - 3500 miles were also found to be slightly out of adjustment.
