Well... I found out what MY problem was... Apparently just as I was rolling off and planting my feet on the boards the left foot was sometimes striking the up-shift heel lever. This is probably due to having pretty short legs and so my feet are usually sitting pretty far back on the boards. Too far back to be able to miss the heel lever. I cut the back of the pedal off... NO MORE problems!
