Thrumming Sound @ 70MPH

My 06 Stratoliner has a bothersome thrumming noise that starts about 68MPH, peaks at 70MPH and goes away above 76MPH. When driving in a straight line it is a cyclic humming at about three cycles per second. I noticed if I swerve the bike (like car racers do to warm up the tires)the cyclic hum goes away and is replaced by strong hums at the outside arc of each turn. I am wondering if it is a harmonic noise from wind in the front shock cover gaps. It could also be something to do with the drive belt. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?
