Hey There! to answer your question about gettin more power from a v65,yes you certainly can, however, you´ll sacrifice either bottom end torque,or top end hp,both at a hefty price...but if you got the money and time for the bike to sit,it´s possible.... Here´s how(I´ve owned 3 v65 magnas and was a honda mechanic for6 years waaay back when...just got a 85 v65 sabre9can´t seem to stay away from a v4!) 1)Pull the cams and exchange them or have them reground to a different lift and duration for top or low end power, your choice. There is a cam grinder in canada that offsets the intake and exhaust lobes so that you can save the power curve a bit. 2)get a cam degreeing kit so you can dial them in right(there is some discrepancy in the stock set up 3)There used to be a 4-into-1 exhast system from holeshot products that was expensive, made really well, not too hard to install, and sounded just AWESOME.....sacrificed low-end power though 4)re-jet the carbs and throw in a k+n air filter(if not available instock shape try individuals. 5)sometimes you can advance the ignition timing by slotting the pickup plate at the end of the crank...not sure on if possible on v65s´...but worth checking out Thats all I can think of....unfortunately,no chain drive conversions available(like VMax)because v65 motor runs backward at the output shaft A fuel injection kit would be nice to install, but alas, ain´t gonna happen on old,kick-ass bikes like ours A set of flat-slide carbs would be cool but they´ve never been brought up as a viable alternative for the stock ones That´s all Amigo, Peace, Axman66 |
