Hi Z heads, I have a 1975 Z1B (american import) which I have owned for ten years.
Of course I love it but over the last couple of years it has developed a running problem which is driving me to distraction and which I cannot fix.
It began with a misfire which I traced to No 1 cylinder and a new spark plug fixed it.
However it wasn´t long before it reappeared so I began to investigate. To cut a long story short I eliminated electrical problems and assumed it to be fuel. Carbs thoroughly cleaned, rebuilt etc and still the problem.
Eventuallt it became apparent that the plug is getting fouled with oil so I have rebuilt the head with new valve stem seals and lapped the valves, honed the barrells and fitted new rings, recently had the head skimmed and checked that it all torques together properly. Still no joy!
There do not appear to be any cracks to the head or in the liners or pistons though I havn´t yet categorically eliminated these possibilities.
Has anyone had a similar experience or know of any common fault that would present with these symptoms.
I would be grateful for any suggestions or even any sympathy as I´m beginning to lose heart.

Thanks Ian
