Cam chain tensioner issue

I have a TX 500 and the cam chain tensioner has malfunctioned. I think it is totally broken (the ratchet action is stripped out). What are my options now? The bike wont run, but the motor is not seized. Is it worth it to try and find a new tensioner unit or should i start parting the bike out? Can the unit it self be repaired? Any ideas would be much appreciated. If any one knows of a good resource for information it would also be helpful. Thanks
