The left and right battery covers have to snap off, each cover has 3 snaps, the are often broken, once the covers are off there are plastic tabs that are held on place by screws. One on each side of the bike. unscrew both screws and pull the seat away and up from the tank. My bike is in storage but I will go and double check myself tomorrow.
