New owner of a ´85 VF1100S Sabre. Bought it from bro Mark who bought it new in ´87 when they wer emptying out the warehouses of bikes after some recession years of poor MC sales. It is in very good condition with 11k mi. Had not been run for 5-10 yrs. Had the carbs off and cleaned and after new carb boots installed carbs and bike runs fantastic. The power is great for a 21 yr ole bike. I had not riden this bike since ´89. No regrets and as impressed now as then. Question : I have heard in the past about this engine having in-adequate oiling for the cams. What is the story? Did it affect all years and all V-4´s. I have been told to install the aftermarket oiling kit for the cyl head. Holeshot makes a kit I was told. I amy call Dale Walker and ask his opinion. Thanks for any input. Dan, Graham WA |
