I took out that air cleaner box: http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/9075/jl162fmjaircleaner12bs.jpg http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/4094/jl162fmjaircleaner33jx.jpg http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/5166/jl162fmjaircleaner42mm.jpg The filter is a piece of sponge. Anyway besides those two exhause smoke intakes , there is also a third connection, but to the engine, at the bottom of the air cleaner box. http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=jl162fmjaircleanere0mo.jpg I think this suppose to compensate the prossure when the piston goes down or up. It is before the air filter!! This means that engine sucks all dust and dirt straigt from the atmosphere to the engine internals!!! It definatelly suppose to be after the filter! Anyway, that air box doesnt even look good, it seems to be not even sealed enough. I think the best solution will be to throw it away and install some other external air filter. And that blow-by-gas hose (from the engine) block it with some sponge. It will still have a connection to the atmosphere but with a piece of spunge as a little filter. |
