Finally got myself a RVF, I´m from South-Africa. I had the same problem with the battery dying. It is either a faulty regulator, or old wiring. Have a look at the electrical cables, especially the wire leading from the distributor (running underneath the clutch). Replaced mine and the problem is sorted.
