I have had my Daytona 650 long enough that it has passed the 1,000 mile mark and had its break-in service. I added Dunlop D-208 race tires, a Jardine exhaust, had it remapped, clipped off all the plastic under the license plate and adjusted the connecting rod between the gear shifter and the transmission so that the shifter points down, like my toe. In spirited competitions at our nearby mountain, it has more than held its own with 750s and 1000s, especially in the tighter twisties. I got the usual crap from fellow riders about why didn´t I get a Yamaha or a Suzuki but now that they´ve been passed a few times by the yellow streaker (up and down the hill) and as my nerve increases, she´s proven herself. I´m going to work on making the front brake more effective (new pads maybe). The stock one works okay but I think it could be a little better. Considering I only paid $7K for her and she´s such a marvel, I´m extremely pleased (I´ve also owned an R-1, 916, 595, 900 CR/SS and have an S4R with the 996 engine but the Trumpet gets all the work lately because she´s so forgiving).
