Hi, like you I consider myself a novice but do use a bike most of the time nowadays, I´m 100% converted!!! Anyway, the clip on issue, I have a Thruxton as my second bike but do use it occasionally for commuting although in town my wrist do ache doing a 20 mile journey into the centre of Birmingham. I do find that out on country roads when going faster the wind hitting your chest tends to that some of my weight and releives the strain slightly. Added to this, I get 45 mpg whereas out on the open road doing 50-70mph I get 55 mpg. Interesting ain´t it? I have a trail bike that I normally use for commuting.
