need new key! help

I lost my ignition key switch and I´m having a terrible time finding a lock smith to replace it. No one here in Oregon knows how to do it. There´s a guy in California who says that if I take out my ignition and mail it to him that he can get the right key to match. Does anyone have any other ideas so that I don´t have to take apart a practically new, mint condition, yesterday malaguti scooter?
