Hi Keith ,
From what I understand, as on my CRF 450-X the "re charging on the bikke" does not give a full battery charge as in a street bike application- In my manuel it reads to use a trikle charger. Perhaps you drained teh battery to a state of sulfation and you may need invest in a new battery- My wife has a 2005 230 and has had no problems- She truly enjoys the X factor electric start, We installed a KUOBA link to lower and allow her to safely ride the bike on hills. see www.koubalink.com let them know you read about them here . I use them on all my vertically challanged Hondas
