Kips actuator shaft |

Hi Guys, I hope I’ve reached someone who can help me. I purchased a 99 KDX 200 and it had a strange miss in it when I got it. So far, here are all the things that I did… FMF Gnarley Pipe Boyesen Rad Reeds RB Designs Carb mod Wiseco Piston The problem is that the carb is running too rich. It causes the bike to cut out, almost like it’s an electrical problem, so I took the magneto off and sanded it and the contacts to make sure that wasn´t it and changed the plug wire. Here’s my question though. I noticed that the Kips actuator shaft spins freely about ¾ of a turn. Shouldn’t that little shaft have a spring loaded twist? What closes the Kips back up? I’m thinking that this is why I keep having this issue. It doesn´t foul plugs and has great low end power, but surges and misses in the midrange. I´ve adjusted the carb til I´m blue in the face and I´m sure it has something to do with the kips valve operation. It´s been cleaned twice with no difference and while it has gotten slightly better, even with all the mods, it still has the same basic problem. I´ve changed the jets and even had the local bike shop ride it and supervise all the changes and adjustments and they agree, it´s too rich and shouldn´t be with the current combination, but they aren´t familiar enough withthe KDX 200 to know if the shaft has a spring loaded twist and they didn´t have a manual to check there. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks! |
