Standard Bore vs. Over Bore

I have an ´05 KDX220R. Over the summer I had a buddy who has the exact bike take mine out to see what he thought of the general power this bike has. Compared to his mine seemed a little sluggish. He suggested maybe rebuilding the top end. Over the last month I have tried to get a definite answer on, is it better to go standard bore or should I be looking at going over-bore (69.00mm vs 70.00mm) Some of the forums say stick to what the bike came factory with because an over bore piston may cause to much heat. Does anyone have any suggestions? We spend a lot of time in the mountains biking so im not at the track racing by any stretch, but I would like to have a bit more snap. Thanks
