Looks to me like a carburetor float valve problem. Maybe one/many of your float valves are dirty (especially if it sat for the winter with gas in the tank and carbs without fuel stabilizer) or less likely they´re worn out. But the fact that your bike runs poorly since then make me beleive that they´re dirty. Did the new fuel tank came with a petcock or was the original put back? If it´s still the original petcock i suggest you change the diaphram... because if you have a leaking diaphram AND float valve TOGETHER your engine might hydro-lock (cylinder filled with gas) one morning when starting it. This can cause serious damge to the stater/starter gears/rain gear that is quite long and/or expensive to repair. To prevent dirty carburetors i allways suggest emptiying the carburetor float bowls before long storage periods. You can do this by putting the petcock in the off position (or by removing the vaccum hose that goes to the tank) and leaving the bike to run until it dies or by unscrewing a couple of turns the valves at the bottom of the float bowls untlil no more fuel comes out of each. |
