I´ve owned this bike for 5 months. I weigh 175, and the mighty mini-Vulcan will convey my carcass at speeds up to 70-80 MPH with no problems, though I mostly ride around town (at lower speeds, naturally). I bought a shop manual and assorted tools and find it´s a simple job to do routine maintenance, such as adjusting the valves at specified intervals. True, this means removing the seat, fuel tank, fuel hoses, water pipes, oil pipes, corncob pipes, coils and plugs, and cylinder head cover. It´s a three-hour mechanical roundtrip to check the valve clearance and put the bike back together. But it´s worth it, even if you have to pay a real mechanic. The bike looks great, itt runs well and is pretty easy to ride and maintain (see above). I may trade up when I get more experience, but I may just keep it. |
