I have the same setup and had the same problem till I went to the internet and found an article on the cold air return. I followed the instructions on blocking it with a marble in the line and that helped a lot. Then a mechanic friend of mine had a look and after tighten the exaust bolts it totally did away with the back firing. He said if the problem returned I should replace the exhaust gaskets. When air can get drawn back into the exhaust around the gasket area it causes the back fire problem. Let me tell you it sounds good now, and the power is amazing. I love my bike.
