Just got a used ´02 Ninja 500R. Man it´s nice! It´s got 6200 miles, and the rear tire will need changing soon. I envy my buddy´s 600cc Yamaha, which has a big fat rear tire. Is there a standard aftermarket tire setup for this bike that will optimize it´s handling/cornering potential? I´d like the bike to retain it´s nice all-around ride characteristics, yet I would like to feel confident when leaning hard. I would like a tire-set reccommendation that will require no alteration to the stock bike. I don´t mind sacrificing tire longevity a little bit. Also, is fatter necessarily better? What´s that fattest that I can go and still fit the stock rims, and still enable the tire to easily slip into place?
