I have the same ´problem´ although my v-strom is only 1500km old. From what I´ve seen in magazines and the net this is not a loose thing problem but rather an inherent characteristic of the 90deg V engine. The kind of vibes I get is that after 30-50km driving I feel my hands a bit numb.
If you get any success with your 12000km service please let us all know.
