8.5/1 compression?

Greetings all,
I am considering a large thumper, after a Goldwing and two Kawasaki Voyagers. The Savage/s40 seems to be a pretty simple and yet dependable ride. I am curious about the compression ratio stated. Could the s40 be milled to bring the compression up to about 10/1 and bring the HP up to 50-60 range without major damage?
