We just purchased one of these for my wife last weekend. I had the privelege of riding it home. I´m 6´, 230 lbs and usually ride a Honda Shadow ACE 750. The bike was noticably lighter and more agile than my usual ride. We were going to get a Rebel 250 for the wife but a salesman we spoke to said that, while the 250 would be a good beginner bike, my wife would be looking for more power in 6 months. The S40 make something like 30hp and it pulled my weight around reasonably well. Since you´re a little bigger and stronger than my wife you might want to consider an entry level 750, this displacement can be had in a myriad of configurations, from tourer to crotch rocket. Suzuki´s new Boulevard series has a couple of other bikes like the S40 but with slightly higher displacements that would do nicely. I don´t think the power will be overwhelming and you should easily "grow into" the new bike. Good Luck! Curt Schilling |
