I purchased a 2006 Boulevard S83 with about 13,300 miles on it on 8/20/08. It seemed to run fine for about 170 miles. Then on 8/27/08 it started to bog down and backfire. It stalled out and I switched on the Res. tank (thinking it was fuel issue). I stopped, filled up, and checked everything out. Everything looked OK and the bike still had about a gallon of gas. Now I´m scratching my head. About 3 miles later it did the same thing....bogged, no power, backfired and died. After 15 min. of sitting on the HWY cussing and calling friends it started back up and drove Ok for the next 10 miles. Then it started to bog down and loose power. I went really slow babying the bike at 60 mph just praying to get home for the next 5 miles. The bike finally died/stalled out. I waited 15 min. and I restarted the bike, but this time the shaft drive was just spinning. I had to walk 3 miles and trailer the bike back to the dealership. The dealership said it was my U-joint and claimed to fix the problem. I drove it home (70 miles). Two days later I rode to work (30 miles). Then on the way home (30 miles or so) it started to cut out, bog down, backfire and then die. I checked everything and filled up with gas, but again it still had plenty gas. It started up and I drove 2 miles and then it did the same thing and died in front of my house. If I let the S83 sit for many hours or a day it will run for about 20 to 30 miles and starts to do the same thing over. I don´t think it’s a fuel issue because it runs fine for the first 20 plus miles. Someone please help me!
