Hey Ashley-

I don´t know a ton about this, but my battery doesn´t hold a steady charge. You may have blown a fuse, which happened to me once. The bike just died completely.
I also have a battery tender, which I got with the bike. You can usually get them at a bike shop, dealership, or car-parts store. I think around 20 or 30 $. You can recharge the battery by plugging it in this way.
