Before I start…..I am not a mechanic, I have what I call basic limited knowledge of engines…. I am however reasonably handy….it’s the knowledge/experience I lack. I have a Pegaso 650ie (04)….I am experiencing problems with the bike starting from cold. The problem is deteriorating (over the past week), the bike is becoming more and more difficult to start each morning. Once I have started the bike and it has warmed up (not being ridden anywhere, just warmed up on the drive for a few minutes), I can then switch the machine off and start it perfectly every time. There is plenty of fuel in the bike, it is not the battery and the bike is kept well serviced so filters, plugs etc..ok I have however been here before with this bike about 12 months ago. I experienced a raft of problems is one short period of time (4 punctures, faulty ignition switch, overheating and finally a failure to start). The bike went away to the Aprilia dealership in Silverstone and after some time I received the bike back in good running order. Unfortunately after a week or two of riding the bike it began struggling to start in the mornings, the problem deteriorated until the bike would not longer start. It would keep turning over but would fail to fire up (in the last two days of it running I would have to remove the seat and air filter to even stand a chance of it starting?) I had to get my bike back to Silverstone and to their credit they got the bike running again and did not charge me. I apologise if the following is a little vague…...I was told that something had either worked its way loose or had not been tightened at the service and that the bike was running at 70% instead of 2% ??? not sure of this is air/fuel mixture or something to do with emissions? Does anybody know what my problem is and if so what needs to be tightened or adjusted to get the bike running again. My bike is still starting (Just)…but I feel that it will fail within the next few days…….can anybody help? |
