Bob,
Interesting...to drain the oil via siphon. I do that with my diesel motor on the sailboat as you remove it via the dipstick but with an oil pump that sucks the warm oil out.

I did find that at 3,000 it was worth taking the oil screen out as there was a small amount of trash in there. The mechanic had changed the oil at 700 miles. Like you, I´ll use the oil drain bolt in the future. The oil filter was easy to change.

Would be hard without a center stand though.
